Before long it will patio season in the Coachella Valley. Patios are the perfect place for hosting an outdoor get-together with friends and family. When you are getting your outdoor party area ready by washing your patio furniture and outdoor cushions, don’t forget to clean your concrete walkways, patios and pool decks too. Here are some easy tips:
1. Natural Cleaning Solutions for exterior concrete flooring
There are natural, eco-friendly alternatives for cleaning your concrete patio floor. Vinegar is a fantastic cleaning agent. Mix equal parts distilled white vinegar and water (add a few pinches of salt if you need to scrub away stains). Spray onto the surface, mop and rinse.
If you are adverse to the smell of vinegar, add drops of your favorite essential oil to mask the smell. Use vinegar (not diluted with water) on tough stains and scrub with a nylon brush. Again, if you don’t like that vinegar smell, clean stains first then mop with the diluted vinegar solution with added essential oils.
Baking soda is a good cleaning alternative as well. Its abrasive texture gives it natural scrubbing power to help remove dirt and grime. Mix half cup of baking soda with one gallon of water and mop the concrete patio floor. If there is baking soda residue, spritz with vinegar to remove. For a stronger cleaning solution, add baking soda and liquid soap to water and use to wash the floor. Rinse with water to combat any residue and let air dry.
Hydrogen peroxide is another non-chemical option for cleaning your patio. Simply replace the screw on cap with a spray nozzle, spritz on the concrete patio floor, scrub with wet broom, and now you have a clean surface. If you have any highly soiled areas, spray vinegar over the hydrogen peroxide and scrub with a nylon brush or rag.
2. Power away stains with a pressure washer
One quick and easy way to get your concrete patio floor super clean is using a power washer. And it works great for removing mold and mildew too! When using a pressure washer, follow the instructions. Always wear protective gear, including eyewear, boots, and gloves. The water is very powerful and should never come into contact with your skin. Spray evenly and steadily along the patio until all dirt is gone. Choose a pressure washer that is strong enough to clean gaps and stuck-on grime and mold.

This is actually pretty helpful, I usually assumed that a hose and broom would clean concrete pretty well, but to keep a good color it usually takes more than that. Same goes for concrete curbing too, thanks for sharing!

My favorite part of this article is baking soda may also be used as a cleaning agent. Its rough texture provides natural scrubbing power, which aids in the removal of filth and grime. Someone recently told me about this and it is different from what I understand. Thanks for helping me understand pool deck.

The fact that sidewalks, walkways, pavers, and patios are often areas of high foot traffic greatly increases the dirtying effect, as contaminants are ground in and forced even deeper into those pores Thank you for the beautiful post!

As natural calamities have become more common in recent years, the waterproof element has become much more sought after. As the weather changes, homes and structures are more vulnerable to uncomfortable internal temperature variations caused by collected water. Homeowners and project experts can add a large layer of insulation by using waterproof spray foam insulation. This will never change, even if the outside temperature changes. It's even more important to choose the proper decision depending on your needs and structural constraints. This guarantees that your money is spent on the best waterproof alternative available.

Cleaning concrete walkways, patios and pool decks can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be! With a little elbow grease and the right cleaners, you can get your outdoor spaces looking spick and span in no time. For general cleaning, start by sweeping away any dirt and debris. Then, mix up a solution of water and mild detergent and scrub away any remaining dirt and grime. For tougher stains, you may need to use a pressure washer or a more heavy-duty cleaner.

You make a great point about using vinegar to get out tough stains. My concrete driveway has a bunch of oil seeped into it. Maybe I should have it ripped out and replaced.
